Regular Member jsrtist Posted December 10, 2003 Regular Member Share Posted December 10, 2003 I had a question about my otos. I have about 5 or 6 in my 30 gallon tropical tank, and lately a few of them have gotten so fat! Im guessing that theyre females who are full of eggs. Does anyone know much about these little guys? Is it possible to tell males from females? Just wondering.

Guest Sootica
I had a pair of otos, Dyson was much broader and so therefore I presumed she was female. Henry stayed fairly small and streamlined. Sure enough, Dyson spawned a while back-you could actually see the egg sacs through her skin (as her underneath was translucent it was pretty clear when she stuck to the side of the tank). When they grow a bit it's usually pretty clear which are male and female
