daryl 11 Posted June 30, 2006 IN general, tropical fish need the water temperatures too high for the goldfish. The goldfish is a hearty fish, and can survive in the higher temps, but will not thrive. Another, very large problem is that a goldfish considers anything that it can fit in it's mouth (and some things that it only THINKS it can fit in it's mouth!) to be food. Your guppies and platies would quickly become lunch.
