Regular Member dahnuh Posted December 3, 2003 Regular Member Share Posted December 3, 2003 I wanted to get a weather loach for my tank, but I also need some algae control, so I thought I'd get a snail as well. Would an apple snail be safe in a tank with a weather loach, or would s/he likely become a loach lunch?
Regular Member Obsidian Posted December 3, 2003 Regular Member Share Posted December 3, 2003 I think it depends entirely on the loach and the snails size. I have two weather loaches in with two snails, a golfball sized one and a penny sized one. I think as long as the loaches are well fed they don't go after the snails. Plus get a snail with a 'trapdoor', one that can pull a flap of shell over the hole in its shell.... just in case it gets attacked it can protect itself. Be warned.... Snails are worse than goldies with plants. They can decimate loads of plants in just days. Not all will do it, but you are rolling the die when you pick one up if you have a tank with plants. Cheers!
