Terracotta Plant Pots - Aquarium Safe?

Hi guys, I hope I'm not going to ask a stupid question.. ;) but does anyone know if Terracotta plant pots are generally speaking aqaurium safe?

Can they change the water chemistry or are they inert? I'm talking more about plain, glazed garden-centre type of thing. I'm considering putting some small ones in my tank. All help appreciated! :)

Thanks for that, yes I thought they were quite widely used.

I did do a little search for previous postings and I'm sure I read that someone had one that dissolved in the tank, but I didn't think that could happen once the pot was fired and glazed as surely this seals it.

Any other experinces of using Terracotta plant pots would be welcome. :)

I have a terra cotta pot in my tank on its side. The goldies love to swim in and out of it. Beside it I have the little plate that would sit under the pot and catch water if it had a plant in it. I use that for their feeding dish. :heart
