Guest bub
My Amonia is 0 , Nitrites 2.0 and Nitrates 40. 1) Can i add Aquarium salt right now while cycling and if so how much? 2)I have a Fluval 3 filter which is not adequate for my tank. I want to put the Fluval 404 filter, is it ok to add this filter while the tank is cycling, I want to eventually remove the Fluval 3 filter. Thanks for help bub
Regular Member JenW Posted October 18, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted October 18, 2005 1 teaspoon per gallon - predissolved in tank water. Also, run the fluval 404 at the same time as your other Fluval - it will only benefit your tank As a suggestion, keep both filters running so if you ever set up a quarantine tank - always a good idea when introducing new fish - then you have a cycled filter you can use... Guest bub
will adding the second filter though upset the cycle?
Regular Member JenW Posted October 18, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted October 18, 2005 No, not at all. As the filter is fresh, it will be running tank water through it while supplying another area for good bacteria to colonise. If your tank is already cycled, the new filter will cycle faster. It will however, help filter out much more waste etc so even if it's not cycled when you first connect, it still plays an important job while catching up to the rest of your tank
