with gouramis -

do they only fight with their own species?

hence, will only male pearl fight with a male dwarf

will a male moonlight fight with a male kissing

etc....

or are gourami aggressive to all gouramis regardless of species??

IME similar shaped gouramis will be aggressive towards each other. I haven't found aggression between pearl and say a dwarf gourami. I have had blues and gold bicker though.

I'd go with another dwarf as well. If you did get a larger species of gourami, and the new edition was aggressive, your little dwarf won't have a chance. A pair of dwarfs will interact better than a dwarf and regular sized gourami, and it will help them to get over their shyness. Also, I don't think you have enough room in your 20 gal tank for the option of a bigger gourami since you also have cories and danios. How many of those do you have by the way? I wouldn't go with more than one or two more dwarf gouramis.

I'd keep 0-1 males in the tank. More than that and they are can be very aggressive toward eachother. Its probably best to get two gouramis and maybe get a couple more danios so they have more to school with.
