Regular Member fantailfan1 Posted October 14, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted October 14, 2005 So I'm all set to finish off my decorating--changing out gravel, adding an airstone. Which is better for goldies--the regular airstones or the ones that produce microbubbles? Or is it just which ever one I would rather look at? Regular Member Kissy Posted October 14, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted October 14, 2005 Both are good, but I think the smaller ones help oxygenate the water more
Regular Member svendenhowser Posted October 15, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted October 15, 2005 I find smaller bubbles heaps better, large bubbles are just big and noisy, i dont like them at all.. Small bubbles have a greater surface area, therefore the water can uptake more oxygen from it.
Guest JustJayde
I agree, the smaller bubbles add more air to the water, are less noisy and much more pleasing.
Regular Member fantailfan1 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 16, 2005 Great--I picked up some airstones that create tiny bubbles and hooked it up this afternoon. Looks good and is very quiet. Thanks for the help.
Guest WoodenCoyote
I like bigger bubbles. Small ones don't churn up the surface of the water enough, so you get less oxygen exchange.
