Guest Vex
Hey guys I have read the post on filters, but I guess I was just missing something. I have had my tank running for about a month and I need to know how to keep my filters clean. Not saying that they are dirty, everything looks good on the outside. What signs do I need to look for so I know when to clean them? And what exactly is the best way to go about cleaning them? And what are the steps that you perform while keeping your biological filter intact? The water is still coming out fine, so I wasnt sure if I needed to clean it since the water is still coming out at a good rate.

Guest Vex
You rinse them in the tank water that you take out of the tank during a water change?

Regular Member gollie23 Posted October 8, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted October 8, 2005 Also, if you see the water flow out of the filter is not the normal, nice flow, that's a sign you filter cartridge needs a rinse.
Regular Member toothless Posted October 9, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted October 9, 2005 Hi there. If i'm not mistaken, all of your questions are answered in the filters and maintenence post at the top of this equipment forum. You only want to do cleaning out of necessity. Like if the flow is reduced or water is flowing over the filter cartridge. Paul
