:rolleyes: hey, this is my first post! i have a lot of questions beware... okay 12 months ago i bought 2 comets, and im unsure of sex, the orange on is alot fatter at the moment, and the orange/white one is smaller and skinnier, is the orange one pregnant? also... they chase each other all the time anyway... just thought they were playing... now im scared they were breeding! :newfish sorry, thort it was very cute lil smilie :D If any help can be offered.. thanks... and i ant tell the sex either, cos they are only about 2 1/2 inches long.. and very shiny and cuute!

2 gallons!!! YIPE! oh that is sooooo tiny for fish that will get so big! I think your comets growth may be stunted too. My comets are very young and are probably about 4 inches (from head to tail). You should have at LEAST 20 gallons right now for your comets.

About breeding? I had always thought that goldfish could breed at a year of age, but Im not entirely sure about all breeds of goldfish. Well, if one looks fat, and the other one has small pimple looking things on his gill covers, then yeah, maybe they are trying to mate.

well, I hope that if they are mating, you are ready for the care of fry...it's hard work, but rewarding....and the male comet will have white pimple like tubercules on his gills and on his pectorial fins
