High Ph

Hi everyone!

I'm posting for Kristysweets. Here's her post in the disease forum:

http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/...showtopic=34409

Just wanted to know how to safely lower her Ph and if it needs to be lowered. Also, what causes the Ph to be so high? The water is 8.4 coming out of the tap and 8.4 in the tank.

Thanks!

My pH at my old out was that high, and it was hard enough to walk on, but as long as it is stable it shouldnt be a problem.

If you're really concerned about the high pH, you can buy kits to raise/lower it. I've been using one in my tropical tank because the driftwood in it is lowering the pH dramatically. I just add the solution a bit at a time, over a peroid of days, to avoid shocking the fish's systems. Then I test frequently so only small adjustments are necessary. Good luck! :D
