Mav 0 Posted August 1, 2005 I really started this poll for my Mom... she + I were talking last week about the fact that my fish turn 3 this fall [well, counting from when I got them]. So she was wondering, how long do most goldfish live -- does it depend on species, or tank size, or... I gave her the best answer I knew -- I'll ask the people at Koko's! So I am starting this poll, to get kind of an average -- you can even tell us what kind the fish is, because I've heard that makes a difference, like orandas have different life spans that bubble eyes or veiltails or what not. Should be interesting to see the results... --Mav

Tazz Knight 1 Posted August 1, 2005 My oldest fish, who ironically was the very first fish (that I won from a carnival), lived to be 11...Due to a severe swim bladder problem(and not knowing about this website several years ago) I ended up putting her to sleep. Her name was Glitter AKA Fat face. She was a perfect goldish-orange Fantail.

Mav 0 Posted August 2, 2005 Wow! I told her I thought pet fish could live to the two-digits, but I think she was a bit skeptical. I will see if I get more results, and tell her when I see her on Wednesday. She will be stunned, I think. As I am personally quite fond of my fish, I am glad to know they can live for so long. --Mav
