Regular Member Anic Posted July 25, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted July 25, 2005 I'm building a pond for my goldies in a couple weeks and when they move out I was considering getting a Black Moor. If I can't get a Moor, I was considering putting female Bettas in there. But, I don't know the max number of females in a 10 gal. I would probably put 4 or 5. What do you guys think? Regular Member touchofsky Posted July 25, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted July 25, 2005 Five would be perfect for a 10 gallon. I find they do better in groups of five or more Get them all at the same time and put them in the tank at the same time. This works best. Provide lots of hiding spots and some plants. Having done these things, I have had almost no aggression from my female bettas. In the first couple of days there may be a little chasing, but as along as there is no physical damage, they will work out a pecking order in a couple of days and things should be fairly harmonious. Keep a close eye on them for the first few days, though.
