Guest alana001
Hi. I'm new to the board and relatively new to goldfish! Last week-end, I bought two fantails, and I'm very happy with them. I've learning so much about their care as I browse many different sites, including this one, which is most helpful. Last night, I noticed that one of the fish was "swimming funny." I knew from my readings that he probably may have swim bladder disorder. Well, I read somewhere that I could remove some of the water from the tank. (five gallons for now) He seemed to improve after awhile. Today, I changed the water and put a tiny amount of aquarium salt in the tank. He has greatly improved, but I'm not sure if the salt treatment did it or if got better on his own. I have a feeling that I had overfed both fish, so I have not fed them since last night. This week, my oranda should arrive. (I ordered him last week) My question is-should I change the water again before he gets here, and how long will three little goldfish stay happy in a 5 gallon tank? I hope to move them soon into a 15 gallon or a 20 gallon tank. Thanks so much for any advice! Alana
Guest Phreno
For 3 fish, you will need at least a 30 gallon tank.
Guest alana001
Thanks, Kyle. Wow-30 gallons. Okay. That should be my next big expense! Alana
