Regular Member Ranchugirl Posted July 17, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted July 17, 2005 In a newly opened fish store they have striped snails advertised as Marisa Ramshorn - stripes almost like the spixis, but the shell shape is different. More like a discus shape, not round. And speaking of ramshorn - how good are they with plants, and are they bisexual?
Regular Member Devs Posted July 17, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted July 17, 2005 I have Marissa's.They are really in the Apple snail family. They're called Marissa Ramshorn's because of their flat spiral etc. but they're not really Ramshorn's(which by the way are from the Planorbid Family)Marissa's need a snail of each sex to umm...make babies. Real Ram'shorn's(Planerbid's,just need to get theirselve's in a good mood) I haven't had them too long, they've allready laid eggs-which by the way are under the water level. And as of yet,I haven't really seen them bothering my plants much. I have one Solid Gold one,and three or 4 striped ones...I think you've been slimed Andrea!!! You have that "Snail Fever"
