Regular Member PaNdeM0niuM Posted July 14, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted July 14, 2005 can someone please help me out. I am having trouble with my fish. I have a planted tank, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 40 anyways, my fish are very shy. I noticed that when the aquarium flourescent lights are switched "ON" they go hide in the plants. when the lights are switched "OFF" they come out, and start swimming around. WHY?? Guest Esareh
It may help them get used to the lighting. It usually takes fish a little longer than a week to realise "Humans have thumbs, they guve us food" I wouldnt worry too much about it.

Regular Member Bella_Butterfly Posted July 14, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted July 14, 2005 When I first got my common, Sakana, she used to do the exact same thing. But after she got used to it, she loves the light more than ever.
Regular Member Kissy Posted July 14, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted July 14, 2005 My betta hid in his cave all day and was so scared of me for like the first four days I had him. Then he realized that I=food. Now whenever he sees me looking at him he rushes up to the surface and gives me betta eyes. On the 7th day he was eating from my hand and sucking on my fingers They just need some time.
Regular Member akk0415 Posted July 14, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted July 14, 2005 Are they in a high traffic area? They could just be disturbed by activity.
