Guest Phreno
Sometimes, my male betta will perch itself inside the plant. I mean, it will literally tangle itself in the plant and sit there watching me. If I come over it will come out and swim around, though. And its eating fine too. And another question, how much room do male bettas need per fish? And can they deal with filters, or is the water movement bad? What about air stones, are they ok too?
Regular Member fisharenewtome Posted July 8, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted July 8, 2005 Shim likes to hang out in his plant. I think it's a comfy place to rest for him. All of my betta tanks have filters with gentle current. You don't need an airstone (& I don't think your betta would appreciate the current) because bettas breath at the surface of the water. I wouldn't divide anything less than a 5 gal. Hope this helps!
Regular Member touchofsky Posted July 8, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted July 8, 2005 I agree that a 5 gallon divided in two or a 10 gallon divided in three are the best options. That size tank is easy to use a filter on and to heat. Some bettas resent currents, but with hob filters it is easy to reduce the current by hanging a piece of filter floss in front of the outflow. My bettas love to rest on their plants, too
