How Many Gallons Per Hour?

In general, it is said you should pass all 20 gallons through the filter at least 10 times per hour. That is a 200gph filter. Anything above and beyond that is absolutely GREAT! Remember you are exposing your water to the beneficial cleaning of the bacteria as well as the mechanical filtration and perhaps some chemical filtration each pass, so the more the merrier. I have a souped up 330 on my 20 gallon and am happy for every bit of it. I will put a 400+ on a 30 gallon.

right now i have two filters on my 55 gal one 300 GPH and one 160 GPH, which cycles my whole tank almost 8 and a half times an hour, im planning on switching the 160 with a 350 cannister next year, thise will give me a total of 650 gph, or about 12 times an hour which will be a lot better, i've heard this many times on this board, there is pretty much no such thing as too much filtration :D
