I'm thinking about buying 2 ryukins for my 20 gallon, and yes I know everyone says at least ten gallons per fish, but I'v read that ryukins grow a little larger than lionheads and ranchus, so will they grow to full size in a twenty, or should i only get one?

And can a goldfish live a solitary life healthy?

as long as you can keep up with weekly water changes, two should be fine. But if you only do one, you could get a rubberlip pleco for algea controle! (and their darn cute)

Goldies do fine alone. my more is alone, and He is the pirkiest little fella!

I'd personally keep two also! If you did keep only one, you could grow the little ryunkin into fishzilla! Or you could keep a cana snail, or a rubberlip pleco like magick said! I love the word pleco, don't you? Its just so pleasant sounding! Yup, I'm in a good mood thismorning :D
