Regular Member bigjk Posted May 5, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted May 5, 2005 Hey, How can you tell if a lily made it thru the winter? I have had lilies that did not start growing until half way thru summer. I replanted a lily this week and broke a part off and the center was a light brown. It was hard, noy musshy. Are there any signs to look for? Thanks, Bigjk
Regular Member Fire_Wolf Posted May 5, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted May 5, 2005 Lily's do, or can get a root rot, but it will be brown/squishy/soft. Have you tried moving the lily's to a shallower area where they get good sun to get them to grow and then moving them back deeper as they put they put out there leaves? Regular Member bigjk Posted May 7, 2005 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 7, 2005 Thanks, I'll try that. Will hardy lilies die if they froze last winter?
Regular Member Fire_Wolf Posted May 7, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted May 7, 2005 They could if they are actually in ice, but dropping the pot into the deepest area (3 1/2 ft or so) of the pond is generally safe. Most are good to zone 4 ratings.
