Are These Breeding Stars?

Ok, new fish, a calico oranda. I've had him (thought it was a her) for 3 days.

I noticed when I got her one of her pectorals had a opague whiteness on the edge. Today I notice that both pectorals have white spots on them, so does the gill plate. Sounds like breeding stars but it doesn't quite look right. These spots are small and numerous, when viewed from above they are raised, like little dots.

Any opinions?

edit: Ok, just had a close look at my male moore and the markings on the calico do resemble the moores stars. Am I panicing for nothing?

I've only had breeding stars once, and it sounds to me like that's what your calico has; raised, numerous white bumps along the pectoral and gill covers. However, I'm unsure about the opaque whitness you described, although I do beleive my fish had this, I can't be certain.

I only have a mobile phone for photos and the quality is not good enough to show the stars or dots. Thanks for your opinion, it seems "breeding stars" is the consensous. I'm feeling better.
