Regular Member Black Moorio Posted May 1, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted May 1, 2005 I think it would be so cool if someone were to take a fish with a lot of wen, and trim it so it would look like the fish has a mohawk! Sorry, random thought.

Regular Member smack536 Posted May 2, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted May 2, 2005 yea, wens can be trimmed, but sounds painful! LOL I give my horse mohaks all the time when he gets bubble baths!!!!
Regular Member pm94 Posted May 2, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted May 2, 2005 As interesting as that would look, it just isn't practical. Most wens are only trimable along the edges. If trimmed wrong, it can hurt and can bleed a little. I've had both happen on different orandas.
Regular Member fishrpets Posted May 2, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted May 2, 2005 Yea I think you could trim the wen, but only the part that hangs enough to hinder their eyesight. I would think the part close to their heads would hurt alot if you messed with it. :crp
Regular Member cometgoldielover Posted May 2, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted May 2, 2005 My boyfriend has a mowhalk so one in the house is enough, I already have to do his hair. Dont need the fish asking me to do their wens. LOL
Regular Member Fire_Wolf Posted May 2, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted May 2, 2005 Ok, I can set the record straight here... Yes, a wen can be trimmed, and it is fatty tissue, and very hard-rubbery like. No blood veins. You see, I just preformed this surgery on my chubby, he was litterally blinded from it. Not only did the wen overgrow, but from the cheek up with the same fatty tissue on the left side. I had to trim this also. The fish is put under with anesthisia (sp?) either finequel or clove oil. I chose to use the Finequel while I did this procedure. The results are one very happy fish who can see to eat and not get stuck behind anything and everything in the tank! Oh, and the wen heals over in 3 day's, and in one week is looking very good! From experience I can honestly say the wen would not stay in a mohawk... it will not grow back near as full either. Chubs took off a chunk erlier on in the back corner and it grew back within two weeks, but not nearly as overgrown and full...
