Regular Member BigRedandBlindWillie Posted April 30, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted April 30, 2005 I usually clean mine out with a bleach solutions, then rinse it out very very well with hot water to make sure I get all the bleach off. Rinse the rocks in hot hot water. ive even boiled mine just to make sure.

Regular Member fishrpets Posted April 30, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted April 30, 2005 After you use a weak bleach solution to soak in, rinse it out very well and then let the tank set out in the sun for an hour or 2. The UV rays will help sterilze the tank.
Regular Member LaurieP Posted April 30, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted April 30, 2005 The above posters are correct that is what I have done in the past. My concern, why the underground filter? Gf and those don't do well with those. As they root thru the bottom they disturb toxins that can hurt them when those filters are used. How big is your tank? Do you need more filtration than the Topfin is giving? You could go with another topfin or a bigger filter and take back the UGF. Just my opinion. Regular Member smack536 Posted April 30, 2005 Regular Member Share Posted April 30, 2005 topfin filters are not worth the while. they arent efficient filters...personally, i thnk you would be better off springing for a better filter..
