Gouramis And Loaches?

I have a large tank that holds 60 gallons of water... I have some plants in there, one angel fish, and 2 kuhli loaches. I plan to get more plants and more angels, and I'm really interested in getting some gouramis. I figure I should go for a smaller type of gourami so they don't eat my loaches, but is this generally a good idea? The little loaches are getting along well so far... also, will the gouramis snack on the plants much???

thanks in advance...

Hi and so sorry no one responded sooner! Gouramies should be just fine in that tank. You would probably want to stick to dwarf gouramies though as a lot of the others get very large (unless you want that). Neon dwarfs are really colorful and pretty. I just recently learned that almost all gouramies sold in pet stores are males because theyre so much more colorful than the females!

They shouldnt bother your plants at all.

Hi Purple,

I have got 2 gouramis, 1 kissing and 1 golden. And the kissing one is the only one interested in the plants. I though oh no, with those lips all the plants'll be gone! On closer inspection the gourami is sort of hoovering the algae off the plants but not eating the plants themselves. Very useful little fellow!
