Sphagnum Moss

Just wondering if this type of moss is safe in an aquarium. It seems to be found naturally in small rivers and streams around the mountains where I live, and its common use is to create humidity for orchid plants. Its a very luch looking plant, but I have no idea if it would be safe in my fish tank. Obviously it would have to be quarnantined etc, but is it toxic to fish? If its in small streams I would imagine fish are present. Just a thought!! Anyone know anything? Would be much appreciated!!

I did a search on Google about sphagnum moss in aquariums and didn't get much info. I did find someone who used sphagnum to anchor their plants in plant pots, so that would suggest to me that it isn't toxic or anything like that.

I suppose the thing would be is whether or not it would survive or just die. You could try a test by keeping some in a container, submerged on a window sill or something like that :D
