Regular Member Miss Bad Wolf Posted December 12, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted December 12, 2021 I am having issues with my filter cartridges getting dirty too fast. I can’t afford new cartridges every month. What is the best way to clean one and get it ready to be reused?
Helper Arctic Mama Posted December 12, 2021 Helper Share Posted December 12, 2021 What filter is it? Can you show a picture of the cartridge? Generally speaking you should never replace a filter that isn’t disintegrating, they just need to be thwacked against the side of the water changing bucket and swished in the old tank water you’ve removed, so accumulated mulm and organics from the tank can be discarded. When I had a whisper filter that took cartridges I replaced it twice in three years.

Helper Arctic Mama Posted December 13, 2021 Helper Share Posted December 13, 2021 Okay I’ve had a filter almost identical. You do not need to replace that, ever. Just rinse in tank water and knock it repeatedly so the gunk comes out, until the floss looks brown but not thick with sludge and you’re good to go
