Regular Member hannah Posted May 17, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted May 17, 2021 Off I went to find a small goldie to grow out for my pond... of course I come home with a 5” black moor instead. After visiting 3 garden centres only to discover they’d all stopped selling livestock I found this beauty in a DIY store. I then just couldn’t leave him in a 10 gal quarantine tank and ended up dragging a 33 gal back into the house where he’ll probably end up staying, I bet... Meet Salem! Tank decor is temporary until I decide what substrate and lighting I want and *attempt* a planted tank for the first time in years in the hopes it doesn’t get shredded.

Use several plants to spread out the goldfish nibbles. If only a few plants, the goldfish will focus it's energy on just those few and beat them up. The more plants you have, the better survival luck you'll have. Love that last photo, black cat investigating black fishy!

Love that last photo, black cat investigating black fishy! Thanks for the tips! Yeah I’m thinking tonnes of Java Fern and Anubias is probably the safe bet. To be fair, this fish won’t even eat duckweed so I might have more luck. I’m pretty sure our black cat thought I’d brought his long lost twin home.
