Our robins only stay until cold time finishes and then we do not see them again until Winter. But hoopi birds arrived and have seen first swallows.

Happy day , changing water  which is very much like changing a little house aquarium but Much bigger . Removing is faster as pumping 18000+ liter about 4500 us gal I think. But fill only at 3600 l. Fish love in and soon begin to spawn . Pictured is pond evacuation.

Wow that’s a stunning pond! :clapping:

I would love to keep Medaka but finding them in the UK isn’t an easy task.

MEDAKA pool, preparing it for hopefully a spawn  soon as ones inside are making eggs.

Koi pond does not want to stay clear . Am doing another 90% change but suspect that solution will involve drawing down to the sediment and removing all the build up  crap ( literally) fermenting as pond warms up.

So decided to make some limoncello, as I do not want to muck about with fish pond today . Limoncello for those not familiar is an liquor made from lemons. I have a lot of very good lemons from which to make this delicious treat. Pictured are tree , ingredients as I make it and one of a bottle as sold in stores. Homemade is much much better if done right. 080DC2CD-D7EE-433B-ACB1-7A33D55780A9.thumb.jpeg.55c22d31b27c1eace928210e5983868e.jpeg

YES , but we make a delicious treat called granite d’ limone , which is simply lemons juice , sugar , a little water mixed in a I cream maker or just put into freezer but continue to stir until it forms into ice crystals. Really good . I think nearest American thing to it would be called ( 50 years ago) a “slush “ or “ snow cone” but nowhere near the taste of fresh lemons!

For granita  goggle  “granita”

lemon juice , sugar water  , stir as it freezes . Simplicity but great!

for limoncello there are many “kitchen wife’s” recipes on goggle but I give you mine which is very very well received and easy to make.

limoncello , Mikroll style,

To make 1500 ml :

500 ml alcohol 95%

10 fresh picked lemons ( no wax) old lemons change taste so get as fresh as possible.

sugar or syrup 150 + grams ( very big coffee cup)

water 100ml

tools : zester to remove only yellow part as white will produce bitter . If a potato paring or knife is used the skins are too thick and can not extract the lemons oils in 3 day but need a month or more.

wide mouth bottle or jar with good seal top

strainer or funnel with cotton to strain out small particles.

Pretty bottle to for finished product

Work: remove yellow skin with zester and put in jar under alcohol for 3-5 days until yellow is bleached out then pour alcohol liquid through strainer into big bottle , add sugar and water to taste.  Very good when served direct from freezer too.

I will have to try this. Yes the Snow Cones here in the USA are just ice and colored water... Kinda gross. I think Justine would like it this way.
