I saw rave reviewed about bug bites and vibra bites. My fish didn't seem all that fussed.

Mine loved the BugBites. The only problem is the price of them. The Flakes are cheaper and well they are in love with the Omega flake and the Veggie flakes. 🤗👍

I used to feed frozen (defrosted) soybeans.

I tried frozen (and defrosted) romaine and also seaweed sheets, but the goldfish never seemed too thrilled with either.  And when they did eat either the romaine or seaweed, it always made a mess of the tank.  I did have luck mixing sprouts from a "tortoise seed mix" into gel food.  I think I mixed in other greens too (after passing them through a blender) but if it was in gel food, they ate it!

I've also heard of people feeding pumpkin (often in gel food) and I bring it up because I just posted this:  https://kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/topic/135070-free-seeds/?tab=comments#comment-2071468

:)

Pumpkin is also good for your dogs and cats. So it must be good for everyone Tehehe

Not joke, slice or half fresh off tree , is full of good stuff to make our fish grow strong and healthy. They will nibble everything. We call it “KoiBall” when tossed into their pond as they push the ball about.

A long time ago I used to give mine Oranges. They would go nuts over it.

Wow . . .

That's so funny!

Does feeding citrus affect acidity of the water much?

Yes it can. One reason I don't give it to them anymore, cause my KH is so low. :(
