Dirty aquarium glass on outside

Recommended Posts

I got a stain on the outside of my aquarium but I don’t know how to safely clean it without hurting my babies.  Not sure if is shown in the photos that well.  I don’t know how it happened or how to fix it.

Hey,

It looks like spilled dechlorinator.  A moist (with water) clean sponge or paper towel should remove it easily.

Good Luck.  :)

I did get a sponge for aquarium usage but now I misplaced it somewhere in my room.  Guess I will use some paper towels to try it out.  I will do that soon and let you know hopefully how it works.

I just use a wet paper towel or magic eraser, I hate it when that happens! The only safe cleaner if you need more abrasion is salt, though. Chemicals are just not a good idea :)

Salt mixed with water or just plain salt?

Dampen a cloth, dip it into salt them use that to scrub with. ☺️

What she said. Or you can make a paste with it and rub with sponge, whatever works better for your tank. Be careful though, this works on glass but can scratch acrylic.

Sorry for late response but the salt on sponge trick worked.  The reason for delay of responding was I just found out I have to move soon.

I’m glad it worked! I hope the move goes well :)
