Was planning to use these as a standard sinking pellets. Wondering if anyone had advice about this. Are there any fancies that might be more susceptible to swimming issues... on the 2 occasions in the past i have kept fancies, it worked for a year before the 2 fish (on separate occasions) got swim bladder issues. I am sure there is something i must have done wrong, but I am trying to avoid that this time... adding a heater to keep temps at 74, trying to get the right food, under stock (2 or 3 fish only in a 60 gallon) Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you First thing goldfish do not need a heater unless you need to treat them for something. I don't have heater in my tank and its been like that for 5 years. They are doing just fine Also goldfish need 20 gallons per fish and a filtration rate of 10x for HOB's and 5x for canister filters. Goldfish also do much better in short long tanks rather than the tall tanks. A lot of my other fish got SB cause I had the 55 gallon tall tanks and the 45 gallon tanks too. All are just to tall for the goldfish in my opinion. I have had these 2 for 5 years in a 40B and never seen a SB issue with them even with out a heater. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Was planning to do 3, five inch thai orandas in the family room which has the marineland 60 that petsmart sells. 2 feet tall 4 feet long. The height is a little to tall for the. The 40 b the height is almost the same as the width of the tank. I do believe the 100 gallons can be like that....i will look when my daughter gives me my Mac back lol.You could to the double stack 40b tank. They do makes stands to hold 2 40bs.The temp in my tank for now since its winter here runs about 64f during the day and about 60f at night. I don't have a heater in there. I would say they would be fine to use as a staple. I usually give them Omega a few times per week. I prefer to use Hikari Lionhead sinking pellets for an every day staple because I can get a big bag of it for under $30 from my LFS and has slightly higher percentages of protein in comparison. I haven’t used Omega veggies, I prefer to just use fresh stuff.
