Regular Member Casey120 Posted August 29, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted August 29, 2018 As I bought this one at the pet shop and they sell everything under the " goldfish " name , what kind is this ?
Helper FishyMandy Posted August 29, 2018 Helper Share Posted August 29, 2018 To me, it looks like a young ryukin. Not much of a hump yet but has that triangle shape...how big is it? If it's a bigger older fish then I'd go with fantail
Regular Member Casey120 Posted August 29, 2018 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 29, 2018 (edited) It's the smallest one in my tank , bought six weeks ago from the pet shop . Was around 2 inch when I bought it but has grown over an inch in 6 weeks . Edited August 29, 2018 by Casey120
Regular Member mjfromga Posted August 29, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted August 29, 2018 It's a low quality Ryukin. Short peduncle, stout shape, and even face spells Ryukin. Poor form and hump, but Ryukin.
Regular Member Casey120 Posted August 29, 2018 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 29, 2018 Thanks. A three dollar and ten cents Ryukin it is then , it's a keeper ! lol
Regular Member mjfromga Posted August 29, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted August 29, 2018 With good care... Junk Ryukins can turn out pretty well too. This is $2 Robin. He was a crappy quality when I got him... But turned into a nice boy over time. Nice hump and everything. Yours has long fins... So I don't expect him to turn out really nice... But don't give up on him.
Regular Member Casey120 Posted August 29, 2018 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 29, 2018 Oh , I already like him the way he is. I'm not the biggest fan of some of the hunchbacks I sometimes see so if he stays the same but only bigger I'm perfectly fine .
Regular Member mjfromga Posted August 29, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted August 29, 2018 Ah! Even better then. I am a HUGE Ryukin fan. I can spot one from a mile away and always try to get them as RYUKINY as possible. I forget everyone isn't like me lol. Apologies. He's a lovely guy just the way he is of course.
