Ich infected fish

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I got a new tank of 60gallons a week ago and introduced fish 2days back. Unfortunately out 5, 3 fish already had ich on its tail fins. I read garlic was an effective treatment. So I have added 3clove fresh garlic to the tank. I tried feeding them garlic but they seem to chew and throw out the sliced garlic cubes.

I also have fungal medicine from pet store. I have added 5drops to my 60 gallon tank.

Please let me know if this is the right treatment. Most of the fish are sitting on the bottom. Worried😶

Note: I couldn't get any test kits from local stores. So no info to share, need to get it online I guess.

Hi! You might find it useful to read our guidelines on goldfish care

If you can get some of you water to a local pet store they might be able to test it for you, if so, ask for numbers, not just a range and report them back/

Since your tank has only been running for two weeks, it probably isn't cycled. If you can get it there I would recommend getting seachem prime which will not only remove chlorine and chloramines from the water but also detoxify ammonia and nitrite, making it easier on the fish while the tank is cycling.

Here is a thread about cycling
