I always wondered how do you clean those kinds of tanks?  He looks happy in there :)

Well I fill the sink woth water the same temp as the "bowl", then I take the bowl down, take everything out that I can and place in the sink, then I place the bowl in the sink and gently pour everything out. After that I wash it out, rub off any algae in the bowl and dry it off. Then while the fish is swimming in the sink I brush any algae I can off the plants and glass stones. Then I start reassembling it with it on the wall. After I get the plants and everything the way I want it I fill a gallon jug with fresh water and fill the bowl. The last thing I do is place the Betta back in the bowl and feed him a little extra.

The whole process sounds like a lot but it's really not bad. Easier than cleaning any of the tanks that I have had. Lol it's right above the sink so it's really convenient and does not seem to stress the fish at all.

Water changes are a grease also. I have a section of air tubing that I keep under the sink that I use. All I do is siphon about half to two-thirds of the water out and replace it with fresh every other day or so.

It does look neat! How does heating work? Is it just warm enough in that part of the house for it to stay stable? He is a very pretty fish and you are obviously doing good! Most bettas I see in those kind of bowls look miserable, but he looks great :D

I'm cold blooded so I keep my house at 76° all year lol. The house is pretty stable and he is away from Windows and drafts. I think the main thing is keeping clean water for him. I would not have it anywhere else in the house because of that. Where it's at its easy to do and takes less than 5 min. If it was somewhere else I doubt I'd stay on top of it.

I've considered adding a nerite snail but with just one gallon of water I think it's best just to leave it out.
