Anorea 144 Posted July 16, 2017 I noticed about two weeks ago that Schmendrik had what looked like bruises on his face. I did more wc's than normal these last two weeks, and the bruises went away. At least they did for about a day. Now he has symmetrical bruises in his cheeks. I thought at first that he may have ran into the glass during the night or something. However, today I noticed that he had a LOT more wen on his face where he had the previous bruises, and the current ones. Had anyone else ever experienced anything along those lines? I know that these are not the best shots, sorry. The first two are the previous bruising. He's still acting completely normal, haven't had to treat him with anything, or quarantine or anything. Still eats, plays, etc. I don't know if I've posted in the wrong section, if so, I'm sorry! Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk Hello there, I' m not sure if I can share the same experience but still I had a similar situation. For the last year my male oranda had " suffered" from that wen overgrowth and every 3th month his right side of the wen developed some kind of bruises, becoming inner blood clots. After treating with bactopur direct they usually disappear and were replaced from new wen mass. The new mass was whitish and wasn't looking healthy as the other part of his head. After 2-3 months the problem appeared again. I have spoken with ichthyologist about the problem and he only told me that this overgrowing is unusual genetical problem with that precise fish, problem with the metabolism so I should cut the proteins and feed lightly fresh veggies. Although I have managed the situation for more than a year, last month the bruise became a huge hole in the wen with a huge blood clot and didnt disappear from the treatment. Bacterias were doing their best to spoil all my efforts of fighting the sickness. After a massive water change I only found that in the morning the front side of the wen and the cheeks of my fish are so swollen ( as if there was an allergic reaction) and my oranda wasnt able to see. The wen had grown ( swollen) so much through the night it was awful. The fish was more than 4 years old, 220 grams weight and about 25 cm long with the tail. I can assure u that I was giving my best for the tank and the two fishes in it and was checking all the parameters daily. Still a mystery for me what was causing the problem. Anorea 144 Posted July 16, 2017 I thought it was bacterial, and it still may be, however it looks like it really could just be bruising from fast growth. He had a small amount of wen, and now has moderate, and it happened almost overnight. I will try to get some more close up photos. You can see where the vessels are burst. Thanks for the good wishes and thoughts. I'm sorry your heart is still heavy. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
