Heating cold hose water?

Recommended Posts

Getting ready to start up my outdoor tank this year. The hose water is so cold though where I live! Any suggestions on how to heat it for water changes to a more comfortable temperature, besides letting it sit in tubs?

How cold is cold. Goldfish can take a wide range of temps :)

Their tank water is 72-75F. The hose water is in the 50s! :o

You have some choices for warming the water:  put it in a tub, a barrel, or some buckets.

For greatest convenience, set up a container to drip or trickle the cold water into the tank.  Something as simple as siphoning the water from the container to the tank through a 1/4" will change the water temperature gradually enough for your fish to stay comfortable.
