Nope, haven't seen either of them twitch for a while. Apart from Winstons appearance, both are fine. No unusual behaviour or poo. They both seem OK in themselves.

Awesome.

So I would like you to do for me, I would like you to test your water before a change. so we can see the numbers :)

Im thinking Silver in the tank once in awhile is going to be your best bet. :)  Also cleaning off the algae.

Okey doke. So do you think it's that algae causing an irritation/tank imbalance & therefore the redness, not an infection or disease? I've not heard of that before, so a bit of info would be good if you can, just so I understand a bit better.

I'll test the parameters tomorrow & report. Shall I do another big WC tomorrow (50% like I've done the last 3 days) or go back to my usual routine (3 times a week, 60 litres, 60 litres & 90 litres)?

I'll also make sure i wipe down the tank every couple of days.

How often for the silver, how much & when should I do it in relation to WC routine? When should I start?

Well I have never seen ppl talk about it but I have seen some fish just have a reaction to the algae and there fins touching. SO I just trying to guess :)

Wow! You're up early!! :teehee

Sorry, I've been up a while and already fried my brain today....

Do you want me to add the silver tonight, after the WC? And should I be adding 20 drops?

Or should I hold out until my next change, adding the silver the night before?

Also, when should I revert back to my 'normal' WC routine? After tonight's 50% change? And if i'm only changing approx. 25% as per my normal WCs, is 20 drops too much?

Aggggghhhhh!!!!! :thud

I know :thumbdown

Silver went in last night. 60 litre WC later tonight.

Thursday morning update...

Much the same. Noticed a bit of white fuzzy-mucus stuff trailing from the wen patch this morning, but doesn't appear to have come out much on the photos.

I'm so excited about my new tank, but this is putting a bit of a dampener on it to be honest. I want to order my filter & sand but don't know if I should or not.

We're off on holiday in 8 weeks (end of June) for 11 days and I thought the water params may be more stable in a larger tank while we're away. All being well I'll have an 'instant' cycle due to moving over my mature filter from the Rio.

I'm getting to the stage where I think, just do it! Get it set up, transfer them over - it can't get any worse! Maybe a new tank, more space, extra filtration is just what the doctor ordered. Maybe the issue is with the current tank. Winston might always be like this and if I wait for him to be completely clear of all redness, I'll be waiting forever and never get the new tank set up.

And then I hear your voice (although I don't actually know what it sounds like!), saying be patient, now is not the time. I just don't know what to do for the best.

Sorry. Moan over. For now. :teehee

Well hun... I could find you a video so you have hear me :rofl:tomuch:

I would set up the new tank, If everything is going to be new just do it. Set it up and we can go from there. I don't think there is any reason (fish) why you couldn't move them to a bigger tank :)

In which case, I will then! :hi5

The only thing I'll be moving over is the filter. And Piggy & Winston of course!

Would you go with 100% new water or transfer the existing water too? Works out to approx. 1/3 of the overall volume.

All your good Bio's are int he filter media. I would just transfer the filter and fish. then fill with new water. You will get a slight cycle bump. So you will need to keep a close eye on the water hun. :)

I was thinking. What I would do is fill the tank Prime it or what ever water condition you use. Let that sit for about 5 mins. I wouldn't add the filter at that point make sure your Prime is in the water. We don't want Chlorine to effect the cycle. If you have a bubble put that in there to circulate the Prime and water. then add the filter, let that run for a 5 mins to. then I would add the fish in.

The only reason I'm suggesting this way is its a bigger tank and we want to make sure the water doesn't have Chlorine in it and let the water cycle a bit so they don't get shocked :)

If someone has a better though let us know :)

Just to clarify a bit.

Fill the tank with fresh water.

Add Prime, which acts instantly.

Clean the filter, rinsing the medium in old tank water.

Transfer your filter to the new tank and turn it on.

Assuming your tank and tap water have similar pHs, (I'm not going to search 15 pages of thread to check on that, so tell us if they don't.) just transfer the fish to the new tank.

Test your tank water daily for ammonia and nitrite.  If both read zero for a full week, you have a cycled tank.

Thank you both for that.

Here is Sunday mornings update...

Belly & chin spots gone. Rear wen patch improved. Top of wen, not good - the rash started to reappear on Friday.

Silver went in last night. WC later today.
