Post your Winter of 2016/2017 outdoor pond pictures here!

Recommended Posts

Every winter many of us have to shut down or winterize out outdoor ponds. Some have setups and climates they can run all year round. Others have to shut off pumps, bypass filters etc. I am going to post winterizing and Winter pics here, because I love my pond, and I love snow, and I need something to do. Please feel free to share yours as well.

By the way, the pictures I post will be from my wireless "security" camera, which I can view anywhere, anytime, on my cell phone. It was a fairly good deal for 4 cameras and a digital video recorder if anyone is interested in that sort of thing.

I moved my fish and plants inside and covered mine with a greenhouse plastic thing in hopes to save some of the duckweed.  So not nice to look at right now.

Extremely warm weather for February for the next several days. Turned the main pump and filters on for a bit. 19346d0460cca40f2f2a35e2543fe1a6.jpg6b90fc076711023052075ba73a54a12f.jpg

They all huddle in the bottom right corner of the deep section. They are basically right below the top of the tall rain barrel on the bottom right side. There is a large flap in the liner there that give them a good hiding spot.

I'm jealous is of your nice, warm weather.  We have snow dumping presently.

The pond looks great!  Does the fence do an adequate job of keeping predators or is there mesh as well?

Awesome pics! I can't believe this awesome weather we're having!!! (I'm in Ohio).  I have an above ground stocktank pond.  This was my first year with it (and the fish were only 6 months old in the fall) so I got nervous and brought it inside :) I think next year I will keep it outside for the winter.

The fence definitely won't keep everything out. I bought the whole thing used for $50 so it's not perfect. That said, I've had the fence for about 8 months and the pond for 4 years and haven't had a predator problem yet. There are a lot of lakes and woods around my house and I'm in the middle of a subdivision built on a flat field so I'm guessing the animals stick to those other areas instead.
