his caudal fin looks like its dissolving...? not in the fin rot way where they look ragged and torn. they just keep shrinking and getting pointier and slimmer... what is that

Your pH in your tap is 6.0 and your pH in your tank is 7.0 that is a huge difference. Do you have a kH test kit? Or can you bring your water anywhere to get it tested?

looking back i probably messed up reading or typing the pH for the tap.. the test kits colour chart doesnt even include anything below 6.4. do you want me to test it again?

The other problem is that test strips are very good. I would highly suggest the API fresh water master test. You need to know the PH in the tank if your having such a swing in it. :o

Try calling around and asking for the API Freshwater Master Test Kit. If they don't have it in stock, some stores might be able to order it for you depending on if it's a chain store or mom and pop store

soooo i explained the situation to the vet and and she gave me some antibiotics, not sure which tho cause i cant read her handwriting.... with the instructions "prepare a daily bath of 1l water plus .5ml of the antibiotic, 15-30 min, for 5-8 days"

pretty well. his fins look much better, the scales are almost flat and he isnt bottom sitting at all now. been giving him the medicated baths for 5 days now, i think i will do 3 more to be sure he doesnt relapse.
