Planted tank, is salt OK?

I have a newly planted 60g that I want to salt as a preventative in case of cross-contamination from the cichlid tank during a water change (same python)

Would salt kill the plants? I don't know what 2 of the plants are, one is frilly and fluffy, the other has small spikey leaves, and the 3rd is Vals.

Vals dont take well to salt hun... Photos would be great as mentioned above.... I know that Java ferns, anabias and moss balls can take to salt.. I have 4 balls in my brackish tank :)

Salt won't prevent anything.  Unless you have sick chiclids, when you refill the tank you should clear the python hose of anything bad.

Oops! I just read that you have had sick chichlids.

What is your water change schedule on the 60 gallon, and what fish do you have in there?  If you do small daily water changes instead of large weekly ones, you can get maintain the tank without using the python.
