Joshua's Goldies 247 Posted February 10, 2016 So I only had Lips and Bubbles a few days and they surprised me with a spawn. I cough them early in the act of releasing eggs in the quarantine tank, decided to hand spawn them and see what happened. I was new to all of this but was able to get a really high percentage of fertilization and now they are hatching today on day 4. So excited and can't wait to watch these lil tikes grow up... dad Bubbles mama Lips eggs day three starting to hatch day four

Joshua's Goldies 247 Posted February 12, 2016 So my first batch of baby brine shrimp hatched but here wasn't enough I thought... Increased the amount of eggs used in next batch. But I have powdered Spirulina, and on kensfish it says it can be fed to fish fry, was wondering if I could give this to my fry as a supplemental until more brine shrimp are hatched? I don't want them to starve... Or get stunted?
amoonklein 1,212 Posted February 12, 2016 Congrats! That is so exciting! I'm also a first timer trying to raise fry so I'll probably be lurking around your thread That's a good question about the powered spirulina. I think it would be OK to feed it to them, but I'm not entirely sure. Someone with more experience will be along who can definitely anwer your question. You could try cooked egg yolk in the meantime as I've eead that is a good alternative... it's messy though.

fantailfan1 26,742 Posted February 13, 2016 Congrats! That is a ton of fry. Mom and dad are gorgeous. I would think powdered spirulina would be fine. I had 2 brine shrimp hatcheries going at once and had one hatching about every 12 hours . . . and I only had one fry. #Spoiled

Joshua's Goldies 247 Posted February 14, 2016 Wow! Look at all those! That was just one corner of he tub there are probably 10 times that in the tub total.... Gonna have to start another tub if they keep growing at this rate, they are gonna run out of room before I can cull.
