Anyone used Petco Aquarium Sand?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Starting a new 55 gal and wondered if anyone has used Petco Black Aquarium Sand. When I look at the bags it doesn't say what it's made of or the grit size. Any input would be appreciated. I got my tank etc from the LFS but need to cut some costs where I can for when it's time to bring the the star attractions home  :D

It's a great sand. I regretted getting the white one because so much algae grew on it. Black would be fine because it hides it all hahaha. When I took out my white petco sand I switched it to Tahitian moon sand. I forget who makes it :peeka

Thanks everyone. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to hurt my fish by taking a short cut.

I don't like sand. Hard to clean gets all over the place.  Even the sand in my saltwater tank drives me nuts.
