It's always hard to make big decisions when you're feeling stressed and overloaded. I find waiting a little while before acting helps. Sometimes it just gives you a new frame of mind/perspective, or confirmation of your choice... You'll do whatever is right for both you and googs, looks like you always have :) I hope all situations improve for you.

Thanks guys.

100% WC just completed. Melafix is all out.

He's now in his last silver bath for a little bit (maybe)

I'll wait and see how he is after some fresh water...

Thank you :hug

He's doing ok... Appetite like a shark, but his eye is still murky.

He normally does very short poops that look exactly like the pellets he eats, but this mornng he was doing longish fat ones. I've not seen him do those kind in a long time. I don't know if that is significant.

Scales seem back to normal :thumb:

So yes, it's just his eye (murky and significantly bigger) and his usual tail problem

Hun when you can do check your tank and tap water for me :)

Will do, I'll have them for you in about an hour.

I use tap water that I pass that through a nitrate filter. This can change the pH slightly (depending on how long ago I recharged it) and brings the nitrates down to 0.

I can remember what the params were for this from my WC yesterday:

Tap before filtering:

Ammonia and nitrite- 0

pH: 7.6

Nitrates: 30

After filtering:

Ammonia and nitrite: 0

pH: 7.4

Nitrate: 0

Would you like me to test these again?

I will test the tank shortly :)

Tank:

Ammonia and nitrite: 0

pH: 7.4

Nitrate: <5 (the little nitrate that is in there is from the tap water I boil in the kettle to bring the filtered water up to the right temperature)

Hey I wonder... have you ever treat the water then let it set for 24 hours to see if the ph would go back up? just wonder....

test it again in the morning hun :)

Erm, I think I have at some point but I don't really have anywhere to store that much water, so if the pH gap is too big then I use gold buffer (but that's not very often at all)

So tank params in the morning?

Tank today:

pH- 7.4 - 7.6

I can't really tell because it matches 7.6 on the low range test and 7.4 on the high range :idont

Eye is still as murky. Yesterday he started to get a blister (I think on the same eye as on previous occasions) so I added epsom to the tank last night. It has reduced in size today but you can still see it a little here:

Scales look a lot more raised in this pic than they do in life.

His scales have never been completely flat because he's had so many dropsy episodes in the past. It's difficult to know if this is worse than normal, especially as I have never photographed him from this angle before :idont

I am going to have to leave him in the care of someone else for over a week tomorrow

I will take some more pics before I leave. I will also need to do 100wc to take out the epsom.

Shall I leave the lights off again like I did in the Summer? Is there anything else I can do?

 I don't think so. I wouldn't trust anyone else except a Koko person to touch the tank.

Pics tomorrow...
