Regular Member Sieta Posted June 3, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted June 3, 2015 Title says it all, I usually dip in 1:3 ratio peroxide to water solution, but I hear anacharis is particularly delicate with dips... So does anyone know if I can use the peroxide?
Regular Member Jim_D Posted June 3, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted June 3, 2015 How much of it do you have? Keep the main portion in a bucket and try a sacrificial piece and see how its responded after a few days. That's really the only way you'll be 100% certain.

Regular Member yafashelli Posted June 4, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted June 4, 2015 What are you doing the dip for? Sterilization? Algae? When I buy new batches, I typically will use Potassium Permanganate to sterilize before I add them to the tank.
Regular Member Sieta Posted June 4, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 4, 2015 I'm not concerned about snails, I have them myself. But it's a new batch I just bought and I can already see some red worm creatures after soaking it in tap water. So parasites/diseases. I've never picked up pp before since I'm fairly new at plants so I haven't had to dip too many delicates. The peroxide worked on the other stuff so I didn't have to run to the store.
Regular Member jmetzger72 Posted June 4, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted June 4, 2015 I don't know about peroxide. I use Potassium Permanganate because it is the most recommended dip for plants.
Regular Member Sieta Posted June 8, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 8, 2015 Just for future reference 1:3 peroxide dip did kill the anacharis.
Regular Member Daniel Posted June 8, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted June 8, 2015 That's not entirely surprising to me. People spot dose hydrogen peroxide to kill things like black brush algae, but much like spot dosing gluteraldehyde, some plants don't respond overly well. Thanks for testing. Can file that information away for future use.
