Regular Member Niki Posted April 22, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2015 Holy moly these guys are awesome! I pick up one zebra and one tiger yesterday and when I woke up this morning the front glass was spotless! Named them Chow & Ming bc one was chowing down right away while the other one lingered. Beautiful shells, might attempt to breed when I return from vacation and have time to invest....anyone know if these guys can reproduce on their own or do they need opposite sexes?
Regular Member goldfishgirl82 Posted April 22, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2015 In order to breed them you need brackish water. Other than that I'm not sure if you need to do anything else like sex them. They definitely are AWESOME algae eaters! I put one per 10 gallons in many of my tanks and rarely have to do anything else for algae control.
Regular Member Niki Posted April 22, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2015 Thanks :-) I do have a plan for breeding and know they need brackish or salt to hatch and survive, but I can't find anything on sexes....
Regular Member GoldenSpoiledRotten Posted April 22, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2015 I do believe you need two sexes with nerites. They are really hard to sex, so if you give them optimal conditions and they lay eggs then you know you have a female at least.
