i personally don't use purigen, but a quick search of Seachem's support site found this: http://www.seachem.com/support/forums/showthread.php?t=3609

I'm in the middle of recharging mine for the first time.. I've had it for less than a year. I'll probably just recharge it every time I do a prazi treatment since it can't be in the filters anyway.

Mine's years and years old, I have 8 closed satchels of it and rotate 4 through my canisters whilst the other 4 are being recharged.

 

I also have large jars of the stuff, but I don't have Seachem's 'The Bag' to use it.

 

I think I must have finally exhausted it because regardless of refreshing the bleach and regardless of length of time soaking they are staying a very dark brown.
