"Colorado Parks and Wildlife say goldfish have taken over a lake in Boulder. Wildlife officials think someone dumped a handful of the pet fish into Teller Lake a few years ago. That handful has now multiplied to thousands."

Maybe we could do something about this like if the lake got drained to catch the goldfish we could help find ponds for them or something like that as this is just awful :(

It would be very hard to find ponds for thousands of fish. At least they are going to a good cause, you know? And they lived probably wonderful lives in the wild until now.

"If they aren't contained to a fishbowl, goldfish can grow to be several inches long." This part here still makes me upset.

Yep.  This is why I hate it when schools or fairs give them out as prizes.  What do you think happens to the ones that live more than a few days?  Out into a lake they go.

I had to laugh when they said that the LFS fishs can carry diseases, reason I laughed is that it sounded like only the LFS fish can carry diseases, and not the native ones.... As in Goldfish are dirty and gross creatures...

Shame on these ppl... Shame.

Everyone knows that there are no pathogens in lakes! They're lakes!!! They're totally clean!!!

It's this sort of half researched, sensationalistic reporting that whips the uneducated public into a hysteria of banning before thinking. Thanks local news, doing your party as always... /sarcasm.
