    • * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) = 7.6
    • Other Required Info:
      • * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API Master Test Kit
      • * Water temperature? 79 degrees (doing an ich treatment as well)
      • * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 90 gallons and it's been running for 4 years
      • * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Penn-Plax Cascade 1500 (I think).
      • * How often do you change the water and how much? Weekly 50% water change
  • * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? - Just did one this morning (80%)

  • * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime, I think all of the salt is out of the tank.
  • * What do you feed your fish and how often? Right now, they are getting Hikari frozen Spirulina in the morning and peas at night. Normally, they get 6 large pellets (per girl) and 2 pinches of NLS in the morning and then the same at night.
  • * Any new fish added to the tank? Guy was in the tank until he started Chasing the girls while they were trying to recover so he is in a QT tank until the girls feel better.
  • * Any medications added to the tank? Salt has been in the tank as has Erythromycin, but I think it's all been removed.
  • * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Salt and Heat for ich, Erythromycin for Seepticemia until the vet took them off about three days ago,  currently also administering antibiotic shots from the vet every 72 hours
  • * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Bloody streaks (clearing up with the shots) and slightly raised scale on LB
  • * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Bottom sitting for 50% of the day, just started eating again after almost a week of refusing food.

Hi! So, I've been treating LB and Izzy for Septicemia with the help of my vet, but I'm not sure if I'm dealing with Pineconing or not on LB (this is the first year that the girls have ever been sick). The girls are currently on an antibacterial shot (I can't remember the type) and I just did an 80% water change today after 50% last week (so I think I have all of the salt  from the Ich out if I need to do Epsom Salt). LB has perked up tremendously with the shots (her third shot out of five is due on Tuesday night), but I am afraid she has some raised scales. She has finally started eating again after a few days of not eating any food. She and Izzy are both in the main tank since I don't have a big enough quarantine for the girls anymore (they grew pretty quickly in the last couple months, from LB only being 6 inches a few months ago).

And zoomed in (it's hard to get a photo from above now that she's feeling better - everything is a net that means "shots" to her now!)

What do you think? Is she starting to pine cone, and should I add in some Epsom Salt? (and if so, how much - I've never had a pineconing fish before!)

I'm on my phone so it's hard to see the pics. Is it just one scale sticking out that you're concerned about?

Do you take them to the vet for shots or ? :idont. If they are at any point in a smaller container try and get a pic from straight over them.

Also can you find out what the shot is they are currently receiving? :)

Just finished the goldfish rodeo to try and get good pictures (LB is the genius out of the two and had to be coaxed into calming down enough for photos by letting her give my hand kisses - I think I've found a new way to trick her into her shots as well). We don't have a large enough travel container right now that is empty so we had to coax her into the Giant net (the vets do house calls for the girls now - they used to be able to do car rides pre-growth spurt) The shot they are on is Ceftazidime given intramuscularly and I believe it's 0.1 ml .

Some of the better shots I took. I had a hard time getting the area where I'm seeing the slight raise (if that is what I'm seeing - It just doesn't look normal for her):

Here's the album of the photos I took as well:

Thanks so much! I hope I'm just being paranoid because she's my baby girl (even if she's as big as my head)

I don't see anything there I'm overly concerned with.  I see where the scales look a bit "prickly" but she doesn't look bloated at all in that area . . .  The return of her appetite is a good sign.  I wouldn't change anything as far as treatment at this point.  Let us know if anything changes though.  :D

Thanks so much! I think she's drastically improved in the last couple days! She actually (very voraciously) ate her peas (and a bloodworm treat after she was sort of well behaved during yesterday's shot). Izzy is doing much better too (she was not prickly or anything but was dealing with the septicemia).  Her scales even look like they've smoothed out!

I'll definitely update if things change though. Right now, I'm just ecstatic that I have my little genius pond puppy back!
