Regular Member Fastlane Posted March 16, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 16, 2015 Anyone here has a GF which is a cross breed between a pearlscale and a Ryukin? I'm wondering if there is any? Pictures would be great if you have guys! Thank you!
Regular Member Chai Posted March 16, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 16, 2015 Crossing them usually produces one or the other. I have yet to see a ryukin with pearlscales.
Regular Member shakaho Posted March 16, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 16, 2015 I think I do. Most of my homegrown fancies are from a pearlscale mom and a fantail dad. They look like fantails. But I also had a ryukin nymph male and I've had a few fish that are so round that I expect he might have been the dad. So what you should expect from this cross are very fat fantails.

Regular Member Chai Posted March 16, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) Looks to be a well-fed ryukin. I love the opaque scales!! Ryukins have round bodies as well, just not quite pearlscale round. Edited March 16, 2015 by Chai

It was so little and had a scale like a pearlscale, so now this is him/her. Gone bigger... I like his/her belly. So round....

All the time I thought it was a cross between a pearlscale and a ryukin. I just noticed the hump on his back just a few months ago.
Regular Member Fastlane Posted March 16, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted March 16, 2015 I hope that the tails would get longer and flowy. (Cross-fingers)
Regular Member Chai Posted March 16, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 16, 2015 Its a shorter tail ryukin, but hopefully it will look a bit more even as it grows. I love my ribbontail Ryu, but it's a bit much. :teenee

Regular Member Chai Posted March 17, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 17, 2015 Short-tailed ryukin are very lovely. (Photos courtesy of Dandy Orandas) These are more towards showing size, but still a good example of tiny tails.

Regular Member Chai Posted March 17, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 17, 2015 You did get lucky, tbh! Very promising little fish, lovely scales. Keep up water weekly changes, feed great food, they'll reward you by being beautiful and interactive with you.
