Mikey 6,789 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) This poor guy had a rough start with pop eye, dropsy, fungus, and deadly water. With daily 100% water changes and metro meds for 14 days and a few months later, here he is now in his new tank! The story behind him is I pretty much yelled at a manager at a store and he said well take care of it and I pretty much flat out said no you won't you're going to put him in the back on the self to die. I said I'll take him for free. After some thinking the manager agreed and let me leave with him. Probably because it was 10:30 pm First day I got him the water levels were deadly. pH: 6.0 Ammonia: literally off the chart, It was a dark blue. Nitrites: 5ppm Nitrates: 100ppm and now for the after!! i know it's not much, but it's better than death. . He's in a 1 gallon filtered mini now with TMS and some live plants. I'm going to be getting many more plants for him and maybe a nerite snail. Edited March 6, 2015 by Mikey

4prettyfish 2,702 Posted March 6, 2015 He is gorgeous, Mikey. His little tank is adorable. Can I please suggest to put in a taller plant for him to rest near the surface of the tank. I know you said you were going to get more plants but perhaps you have a soft artificial plant laying around in your room to use for now.
Mikey 6,789 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) Thank you guys!! I'm going to get a taller Anubias and also a betta leaf to put under the filter so he can rest on it away from the light and flow Edited March 6, 2015 by Mikey

Over here we have a horrible chain Pig PAl's (this is jumbled obviously) that has had the worst looking stock I have EVER seen. I bought a fish years ago (my poor Bentley! ) Which I had bought from a tank that looked clean, turns out they were all infected with bacterial ulcers and died 2 weeks later in my care . That was so horrible that I had to take apart the filters and tank to disinfect it after his death... Edited March 7, 2015 by Artsy Goldfish
Fish Of Gold 2,298 Posted March 7, 2015 Your Betta looks fantastic! You did such a great job with him I have been to pet stores where many Bettas are dead on the bottom of their cups, growing a huge fuzz all around its body and the water is so discolored and cloudy that you can tell the poor things have died long ago and no one even noticed so they can be removed. Hmmm...now that I look at my Female Betta Lilly, she has a pointed tail too so she must be a spade tail as well
