Regular Member Jim_D Posted March 6, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 6, 2015 A friend asked for some Malaysian Live bearing snails. I put twenty (20) in a white bucket overnight for collection this morning. Now these things are only the size of say 3-4 grains of rice. Nearly the entire bottom of the bucket was covered in snail poop. I would have literally hundreds of thousands of snails in my pond, the daily poop load from them must be incredible.
Regular Member RanchuDressing Posted March 6, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 6, 2015 Yep, snails can be gross, and too many people don't factor them in when considering their tank's bioload. Depending on the snail variety and size, one of them can be the equivalent of a very large goldfish in terms of waste output.
Regular Member Chai Posted March 6, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted March 6, 2015 MTS poop sooooooooo much! While very effective for aerating sand, they can reeeeeeeeally make a dent in bioload.
